Topping
1/2 cup of John Russell Honey
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup pecans or walnuts
1 tsp. Cinnamon
Combine honey, butter, pecan and cinnamon in 9x9 inch greased baking pan. Arrange apple slices evenly over honey mixture. Set pan aside.
Ingredients
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup scrumptious Manitoba honey
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2 1/4 cups flour
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl; let stand 10 minutes.
- Stir in honey, salt, egg and shortening.
- Add 1 cup of flour and beat vigorously.
- Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft, sticky batter.
- Drop batter by spoonfuls onto topping in pan.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Immediately invert the pan onto a serving plate.
