Honey Apple Coffee Cake

Topping

1/2 cup of John Russell Honey

1/3 cup melted butter

1/2 cup pecans or walnuts

1 tsp. Cinnamon

Combine honey, butter, pecan and cinnamon in 9x9 inch greased baking pan.  Arrange apple slices evenly over honey mixture. Set pan aside.

 

 

Ingredients 

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup scrumptious Manitoba honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 1/4 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl; let stand 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in honey, salt, egg and shortening.
  3. Add 1 cup of flour and beat vigorously.
  4. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft, sticky batter.
  5. Drop batter by spoonfuls onto topping in pan.
  6. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Immediately invert the pan onto a serving plate.
