Ingredients
- 1 package dry active yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup delicious Manitoba honey
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted margarine or butter
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 cups flour
- almond filling (see recipe below)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water; stir in honey, milk, butter, eggs, and salt.
- Gradually add 3 1/2 cups flour, mixing well until blended; dough will be sticky.
- Turn into a greased bowl, turn over to grease top, cover, and let stand in a warm place until almost doubled.
- Coat a board with 1/2 cup flour, turn dough out onto flour, and knead until smooth and elastic, adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking.
- Shape dough into a ball, pat down, and roll out into a 12x18 inch rectangle; spread almond filling evenly over dough.
- Starting with a long side, roll up jelly-roll fashion.
- Cut across roll in about 1 inch slices and arrange, cut side up, in a well greased 9x13 inch pan.
- Cover and let rise until almost doubled.
- Bake in a 350Β°F oven for 35 minutes or until browned on top and buns sound hollow when tapped.
- Immediately overt onto a plate; quickly scrape out any syrup left in the pan and spread it over buns.
