Honey Walnut Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Mix flour with brown sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl.
  2. Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts, keeping remainder for later.
  3. Add egg, shortening, milk, honey and vanilla.
  4. Mix just until ingredients are blended.
  5. Turn into a greased floured loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3 inches.
  6. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top.
  7. Bake at 350Β°F for 60 to 70 minutes.
  8. Let loaf stand for 10 minutes, then turn onto a wire rack.
