Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/4 cup soft shortening
- 1 1/8 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup delicious Manitoba honey
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Mix flour with brown sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl.
- Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts, keeping remainder for later.
- Add egg, shortening, milk, honey and vanilla.
- Mix just until ingredients are blended.
- Turn into a greased floured loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3 inches.
- Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top.
- Bake at 350Β°F for 60 to 70 minutes.
- Let loaf stand for 10 minutes, then turn onto a wire rack.
