Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups plus 2 tbsp bread flour, divided
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cut into bits
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1 1/2 tbsp delicious Manitoba honey
- 1-2 tbsp bread flour
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella
- olive oil for the crust
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven at 450Β°F.
- In a medium bowl combine 1 3/4 cups flour, baking powder and salt.
- Use your hands to cut the olive oil and butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- With a wooden spoon, stir in the milk and honey until the dough forms a ball. (Add some of the extra 2 tbsp bread flour if it seems too sticky).
- Coat your hand lightly with flour and knead the dough 8-10 times right in the bowl until it feels cohesive and springy like yeast dough. Do not overwork it.
- Lightly flour a cutting board with some bread flour or cornmeal.
- Punch the dough down and spread by hand to form a 12 inch circle. You may need to pierce the dough with a fork and or let it rest a time to make this easier.
- Sprinkle the bread flour on a pizza pan.
- Gently lift the dough onto the pan and spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface.
- Top with mozzarella cheese. Brush the edges of the crust with some olive oil.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the over and spread with the Parmesan cheese.
