Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 3/4 - 2 pounds onions, peeled, cut in half and thinly sliced
- 3/4 tsp dried oregano
- 3/4 tsp dried marjoram
- 1/4 - 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp salt
- pinch of white pepper
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 1/2 tbsp scrumptious Manitoba honey
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large, heavy bottom saucepan on medium high.
- Add the onions and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring frequently. (onions should be browned, so adjust the heat if sticking occurs)
- Add oregano, marjoram, and red pepper flakes for 3 more minutes.
- Stir in the salt, white pepper, tomatoes, vinegar, and honey.
- Reduce the heat and cook for 25-35 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust the salt, pepper, honey, and red pepper flakes, if desired.
- Remove from heat.
